The Cat’s Meow is an irresistible toy that fulfills your cat’s natural instinct to pounce and prey. Its ingenious design features a durable rip stop nylon cover, concealing a hidden peek-a-boo “mouse” which skitters around and around. Designed with your cat’s needs in mind, this toy randomly switches directions and speeds for endless hours of activity and entertainment.
My Experience With The Cat’s Meow Toy
Our cats are members of our family. We have three kitties, and they are all wonderfully unique with their own special personality traits. They make us laugh every day, and we adore everything about them. Everything, that is, except when they claw and scratch our furniture and curtains. It’s not like we can blame the cats; it’s their natural instinct to want to “play,” and our household upholstery is sometimes the unfortunate casualty of this. But even though I knew they couldn’t help themselves, I was a frustrated cat owner until I discovered the Cat’s Meow toy.
After coming home one day to find the curtains in our living room completely shredded, and three guilty-looking culprits waiting for me, I took to the internet in the hopes of finding a solution. We have lots of cat toys around, but our kitties always seemed to enjoy them for a few days and then ignore them after that. I was hoping to find a toy that would catch their attention and keep it. I stumbled across the commercial for the Cat’s Meow, and was dying of of laughter before I even know it: the featured cats are so funny, and it’s obvious to any cat lover how much they enjoyed their interactions with this unique product.
My interest was piqued, but I was afraid the toy would wear out very quickly–especially with our cat crew. I checked out some reviews, and there were so many positive comments about the durability of this product, as well as a similar product called the Undercover Mouse. While a few people did express concern over the battery life when the toy was being used frequently, they solved the problem by switching out regular batteries for rechargeable ones. I actually prefer this solution because it’s better for the environment.
Our Cat’s Meow arrived in time for Christmas, and it might have been one of the more popular things under the tree. I think my cats love this almost as much as my kids love their iPods! Since we set the product up, all three cats have been so much more active. We have a senior, a kitten, and one right in the middle, and they all appear to be equally amused by the toy. Our vet has always warned us about the importance of keeping their activity up and their weight down because so many overweight pets suffer from health problems. We feel great knowing our cats are getting solid exercise while they are having fun.
My kids could watch our kitties play with the Cat’s Meow for hours at a time. While each of our cats is very different in temperament, they all share one characteristic: they love to play. I appreciate that the Cat’s Meow engages each one of them in their own unique way. And because the toy changes speed and direction randomly, it keeps all three cats on their toes.
On the rare occasion that one of our cats has caught the “mouse,” the toy’s motor has kept right on going. You might think all this activity would put wear and tear on the fabric or motor, but thanks to the durable nylon fabric and thoughtful construction it looks and runs as good as it did on the day we got it. I anticipate that it has a few solid years of play left in it.
Because of a promotion happening through the manufacturer’s website at the time of my purchase, we got a second Cat’s Meow for the price of one, plus shipping and handling. We keep one downstairs in the family room, and the other in the upstairs hallway for our kitties to use while they are exploring the house.
My mom’s cat is her pride and joy. They live in a small apartment, though, so Mittens doesn’t have much room to play. I recently gave my mom a Cat’s Meow, and she loves that it fits nicely in her small space and delivers plenty of opportunities for Mittens to exercise and have fun. I am definitely keeping this product in mind for all of the other cat lovers in my life.
My Overall Review
- Promotes healthy physical activity for your cats
- Durable rip stop nylon will last for years
- A great gift for all of your feline friends
- Speed and direction change randomly, so your kitty is never bored
- Mega-motor keeps running even if your cat pounces
- According to the website, the colors vary. Some buyers may prefer to choose their own color, although your cat likely won’t care.
- These batteries have a very long life, but if your cats play with this toy as much as mine do, you will still find yourself replacing the batteries frequently. I solved the issue by switching to rechargeable batteries.
